This webinar offered practical insights into how data spaces are already being applied in the agri-food sector β and what role they can play in enabling secure, efficient, and cross-border data sharing. Organised within the framework of agrifoodTEF, with contributions from the Flemish and Spanish nodes, this session introduces the basic concepts of European data spaces and highlights their value through a real-world example: DjustConnect, the local operational data space in Flanders. It also explores how EDIHs can support businesses and public actors in engaging with data sharing initiatives. Participants will see real-life examples of cross-border data exchange from Belgium, France, and Finland, and get a glimpse of the future of Common European Agricultural Data Spaces.
The acceleration of AI and robotics uptake in Europe continues! Hosted by AgrifoodTEF, this pivotal event in Milan will mark the half-project execution milestone of the four Testing and Experimentation Facilities (TEFs) launched by the European Commission in 2023. The Slides compile all sessions and panel discussions in one Presentation.
This deliverable provides an overview of technologies in the field of agrifoodTEF project currently used in agriculture, analysing their potential development trends based on their advantages, disadvantages, and use cases. It also aims to provide an outlook on how these technologies may evolve in the future, considering past changes and advancements. The report is structured by functionality and outlines the agricultural technologies that can be implemented using these technologies. It is complemented by a list of commercially available devices that agrifoodTEF network has identified as utilising the respective technology. A critical component of the analysis is to present potential services and their extent, mindful of the shortcomings of the utilised technological components.
The European agrifood sector faces critical challenges, including climate change, resource efficiency, and the demand for sustainable food production. AgrifoodTEF, a pioneering project within the Digital Europe Programme, seeks to address these challenges by professionalising and internationalising its network of physical testing and experimentation facilities. This Year 2 report details the systematic efforts to harmonise infrastructure descriptions and service offerings among TEF partners. Key achievements include developing standardised templates for cataloguing facilities, equipment, and services, fostering consistency and collaboration across the consortium.
This report serves as the second annual update on the progress made in identifying and cataloging simulation and remotisation tools utilised by project partners. It introduces the concepts and tools that are evaluated and used within AgrifoodTEF. These tools are essential for creating, visualising, and manipulating virtual models of agrifood systems, as well as for enabling remote control and monitoring of agricultural processes. This report is the first annual report of the agrifoodTEF project, and it aims to showcase the outcomes of the work done on the simulation and remotisation tools during the first year of the project. The report is part of deliverable 2.4, which corresponds to task 2.3 of the project. The report intends to provide a comprehensive overview of the simulation and remotisation tools of the agrifoodTEF project, as well as to demonstrate their value and potential for enhancing the efficiency, sustainability, and resilience of the agrifood sector. This will mainly be done by collecting information and statistics from the infrastructure that will be provided by task 2.1. The report will be updated and extended in the following years, as the project progresses, and new results are obtained.
This report details the findings and methodologies related to the simulation and remotisation tools utilized within the AgrifoodTEF project. The Simulation Software section provides an overview of various tools, including their functionalities and applications, supported by case studies that illustrate their effectiveness in agricultural contexts. The Remotisation Software section similarly explores tools that facilitate remote control and monitoring of agricultural processes, detailing their integration and practical use cases.
Deliverable D2.5 provides an overview of the current digital services offered by partners in the context of WP2 activities. Specifically, a birdβs eye view analysis of the distribution of services across physical, digital and conformity-related services is provided to contextualize the larger picture surrounding the offering of digital services. Then, in Sections 2 and 3, digital services delivered as of 2023 and future/planned digital services are presented, as these will ultimately shape the implementation of the AgrifoodTEF digital infrastructure.
This document provides a snapshot of the status of AgrifoodTEFβs digital services at the end of the second year of the project. The contents of this Deliverable are focused on the activities performed in 2024 to provide digital services to European companies. They depict a significantly more advanced situation with respect to the previous version of this document, published at the end of 2023 and briefly recalled by Section 2. The advancements of 2024 are highlighted and analysed in Section 3.
This deliverable provides a comprehensive analysis of the standards and regulations applicable to the agrifood domain, with a focus on their relevance to AI-based solutions. Building on this analysis, the document maps these standards and regulations to the services offered within AgrifoodTEF, highlighting gaps and opportunities for alignment. This report will be periodically updated to reflect the evolving landscape of standards and regulations, the development of new project services, and the implementation of actions to address identified gaps, thereby broadening the coverage of applicable standards and regulations.
The AgrifoodTEF project offers Ethical, Legal, and Social Aspects (ELSA) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) services in order to support the transition from innovative AI solutions to successful market applications in the agri-food sector. This report explores the current ELSA research and demonstrates how LCA may complement ELSA to promote the responsible development and deployment of AI technologies. It explores the ELSA and LCA services under the AgrifoodTEF service catalogue and outlines the purpose and impact of these services. ELSA services help address ethical, legal, and social challenges while ensuring compliance with regulations and fostering human-centred design. LCA services evaluate and optimise the environmental impact of technologies, supporting sustainability goals. Together, these services have the potential to enable a comprehensive approach to responsible innovation by evaluating ethical, legal, and societal aspects as well as environmental considerations. The report also highlights the potential for developing more comprehensive ELSA services that consider ethical, legal and social aspects more in-depth and with quadruple helix stakeholder workshops to enhance collaboration and inclusivity.
This document describes the Onboarding Procedures to be followed in AgrifoodTEF to enable the provision of services. The step-by-step procedure is meant to assist Consortium Members in the process of assessing whether a third-party organisation, external to the project, satisfies the requirements for accessing an AgrifoodTEF service. This results in the selection of candidate customers being regulated by clear rules.
This deliverable is an important step in establishing a standardised framework within AgrifoodTEF. It gathers essential terms and metadata standards, in line with the goal of Task 4.1 to create a common language and metadata standards fundamental for the interoperability of the diverse services offered within AgrifoodTEF. This includes standardised data labels, ontologies for efficient communication, and quality labels for data and AI models.
